A new President for the Society

A new President for the Society

Congratulations to Dr Jessica Meyer (University of Leeds, UK) who was announced as the next President of the International Society for First World War Studies on 6 July 2018. She takes over from Dr Pierre Purseigle (University of Warwick), our founding President.

Jessica has been a stalwart member of the society ever since our first conference in Lyon in 2001. She served as the membership secretary of the society in 2008 and from 2015-2018. She is on the editorial board of our journal. She has published widely on themes relating to masculinity, medicine, shellshock and popular culture and the First World War. She is leading a research project on the post-FWW civil reintegration and disability pensions in Britain funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant.

You can learn more about Jessica’s research on her staff profile page and her personal blog.

We are all looking forward to the next phase in the society’s development!
