Lives of the First World War

If you have information or material relating to a family member who was affected by the First World War, then you may be interested in a massive online project that has been launched by the Imperial War Museum this week.

Lives of the First World War is a database which individuals can contribute material to – from snippets of info to more substantial things like digitised ephemera and documents. It has already been populated with various official datasets relating to recruitment and the like. The idea is to gather a mosaic of material from thousands of contributors to build a repository of information for future study that will stand as a kind of digital memorial. The ‘Lives’ that it will include are not limited to a narrow definition of British soldiers who fought in the trenches.

Visit the Lives of the First World War website for further details.
